                        Mindful of the importance of neighbourly relationships, Potenza Consulting are able to advise clients on the application of legislation and the correct course of action in matters involving Party Walls. We combine the technical knowledge of a Chartered Building Surveyor with our practical and passionate approach to effectively manage the process from inception through to completion.

                        The approach we use for Project Management informs our delivery of Party Wall instructions. We use the experience and commitment of our Chartered Building Surveyors, and apply our our risk-focused approach to minimise disputes and offer  best value to all parties.

                        As with all our services, we take the time to listen to our clients and ensure that we have fully understood their motivation at the outset. We also listen to all the parties involved in Party Walls to develop a good working relationship and build common ground where possible.

                        Understanding Agendas
                        Whilst the owner and neighbour may have different agendas, our technical knowledge of construction and experience of Party Wall legislation allows us to understand the process from both sides. We use this to negotiate with the parties in the most appropriate manner to achieve a successful result.

                        While undertaking an office refurbishment, it was noted that the boundary wall was in a poor state of repair. Although ownership of the wall could not be determined, a practical approach was adopted and an open dialogue commenced with the neighbours.

                        Specialist consultants were engaged to determine what works could be undertaken around the wall during the refurbishment and contingency plans were put in place should damage occur. This approach allowed works to continue without delay, whilst protecting the wall and the interests of both owner and neighbour.
